WHAT DOES A SMART HOME TECH SALES REP DO?

A Smart Home sales person is a lifestyle consultant who meets with homeowners to explore how technology can be integrated to improve their home. From security systems, to audio/video experiences and automated lighting and climate control, you’re the bridge between the technology, the designers behind the scenes creating the solutions, and the customer who will ultimately enjoy the conveniences you so skillfully made them realize they couldn’t live without.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR A SMART TECH SALES REP?

No two days are alike! It’s the diversity of the homes you walk into and the people you interact with that keep it interesting.

Daily interactions include members of your own team – designers, installers, technical experts. Everyone performs a different function and you’re in the middle beside the customer making sure what you’ve promised, gets delivered.

At times you’re in an office, at a networking event, or meeting visiting the home of your soon-to-be customer.

WHAT EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED TO BE A SMART TECH SALES REP?

  • A balance between technical knowledge and relationship management experience
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and networking
  • Fluent with technical products

Basic Qualifications May Include

  • 2+ years’ experience in sales
  • A personal affinity for high quality goods and services
  • Strong communication and written skills
  • Ability to persuasively present proposals to clients and trade partners
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with initiative to seek out and manage client relationships
  • Good telephone etiquette
  • Ability to work independently but also work well as part of a team
  • Responsive in a fast-paced environment
  • High energy, self-motivated with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts
  • Must be honest, a hard worker and able to see the big picture in gaining clients for life

Advanced Qualifications May Include

  • 5+ years experience selling in the high-end residential technology industry and/or luxury goods
  • Previous experience with audio/video and residential electronic systems projects
  • College degree
